WHY DON’T BOY SCOUTS SELL COOKIES?

For the same reason girl scouts do.
No one wants to buy food from a prepubescent boy.
Who knows what is in them? Snots? Poop?
Boys are not known for their hygiene.

And yet we buy the cookies from the girl scouts knowing full well that they did not make them. If they did then how did they manage to make them so uniform and package them so perfectly?

It is a trick of prestige.
It makes no sense but when we are in the #ChildEgoState we fall for it every time.
Girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice.
What could a boy scout sell that could be nearly as profitable as what the girls sell?
An even better question is where does all this cookie money go?
We don’t care.
Children don’t consider those things.

Prestige does not have to project uber-power and competence.
It uses subtle tricks of primitive emotion that only work on people already in the #ChildEgoState.
It is about trust and expectations.

We trust that the little 13-year-old girl in the paramilitary uniform knows enough about her organization to see that the money goes to her club and not to a multi-million dollar cookie corporation.

And we expect that she will return to give us a box of wholesome unadulterated cookies some day because she gave us her word. Yes, this little 13-year-old girl put her reputation on the line for our satisfaction. She was not pressured into it by adults, was she? She does not receive an award for the most sales, right? She is not being used as a marketing tool, of course. That would be blatant child abuse and we would be accessories to the crime.

Why do we go along with this charade?

PRESTIGE comes in 2 flavors, self-esteem and self-confidencce.

SELF ESTEEM is belief in your intrinsic worth. It is how you see yourself. It is your internal prestige.
SELF CONFIDENCE is the worth you project outwards to others. It is how others see you or external prestige. When you convey a large amount of this -people are confident with giving you responsibility.

GAS LIGHTING undermines self-esteem AND self-confidence. It devalues your confidence in your ability to see clearly and rely on reason. It is psychic bullying.

Narcissists present themselves as over-confident. I saw a town hall recently where Trump insists that he built the wall. The audience did not walk out, they cheered. Why?

Even when the CNN hostess, like a frustrated therapist, kept reminding him that he did not build it he ignored her. The audience, even when presented with reality, would not accept it. Here a narcissist had them all caught up in his delusion. How did he do that?

The reason is that prestige is contagious. It can be transferred to others via osmosis.
Trump is periodically referring to himself in the 3rd person and complimenting his followers as being very smart. "They are the smartest, greatest, most wonderful people on the planet."

He doesn’t actually know any middle-class workers.
He does not hang out with us unless we are his golf caddy.

By accepting his praise they have agreed to his delusion.
By acknowledging that he is competent - now they are, by default, all brilliant -like he said.
See how that works?

How can you refuse such proof of your value?
Yesterday you were a fool.
Today you are smart -because the president said so.
